Webinar: Connecting People with Disabilities through Technology – Opportunities and Pitfalls, May 21, 2026

As part of the project »Centre for Managing DeInstitutionalisation – CMDI (CUDI in Slovenian) at Social Protection Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, we hold a series of webinars aimed at expanding knowledge and showcasing best practices from abroad. This year, we will be hosting our fourth online seminar with international experts.

The Centre for Deinstitutionalisation, in collaboration with the ENTER Mental Health network, is organising a webinar titled Connecting People with Disabilities through Technology – Opportunities and Pitfalls.

We warmly invite you to a webinar where we will create a space for exchanging practical experiences and strengthening international connections among people with disabilities – particularly in relation to the use of digital tools such as Zoom meetings, online forums, and other forms of online collaboration.

Speakers from different countries will share their experiences of establishing and maintaining online connections, reflecting on why such connections matter, what benefits they bring, and what challenges, concerns, and limitations come with this way of connecting and communicating.

What to expect?

✅ First-hand experiences – presentations by experts by experience and professionals from various organisations and countries
✅ An overview of digital tools for online connection among people with disabilities
✅ A discussion on the opportunities and pitfalls of online communication

Each presentation will last approximately 10–15 minutes, followed by a half-hour open discussion on the opportunities and pitfalls that online communication brings.

This webinar is a great opportunity for everyone working with people with disabilities, as well as people with disabilities themselves, who are interested in how digital tools can support community building and international collaboration.
