Boštjan Vernik Šetinc, Independent Advisor at the Advocate of the Principle of Equality

Boštjan Vernik Šetinc is a lawyer and an expert in the field of human rights and protection against discrimination. He has worked at the Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia, at the European Court of Human Rights, and as the former Advocate of the Principle of Equality within the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. He also worked for a short period at the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia.

Among other roles, he has served as an expert on international projects of the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). He is employed at the Advocate of the Principle of Equality, where he focuses primarily on protection against discrimination at the systemic level. In particular, his work is dedicated to the protection and promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities.

He advocates for the rights of persons with disabilities both in Slovenia and internationally.

Boštjan Vernik Šetinc will participate in a panel discussion, where he will speak about the state of the rights of people with disabilities in Slovenia (findings of the report) and, above all, about the implementation of Article 19 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (the right to live in the community).
