Ines Bulić Cojocariu is the Director of the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL) and a disability rights consultant, with expertise in the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the related laws and policies at the European level.
Since 2005, when she was appointed the Coordinator of the European Coalition for Community Living (ECCL), her work has focused on the right to independent living, deinstitutionalisation and the use of European Union funds in relation to persons with disabilities.
She has written or contributed to a number of publications, policy papers and manuals on these topics, and regularly delivers training on how to move away from institutional care to living in the community, and on Article 19 CRPD.
Ines has an MA in Human Rights from the Central European University in Budapest (2002/2003) and has previously worked at Amnesty International Croatia. Ines hails from Zagreb, Croatia, but has lived in the Czech Republic, Hungary and the United Kingdom, from where she moved to Strasbourg, France, where she is currently based.
Ines Bulić Cojocariu will participate in the panel discussion “Human Rights Under Scrutiny: Violence, Accountability, and Deinstitutionalization,” where she will present how European funds are being used to support deinstitutionalization processes.
