Ljubljana, July 30, 2024 – The Ministry for Cohesion and Regional Development of the Republic of Slovenia approves funding for the  Centre for Managing DeInstitutionalisation – CMDI (CUDI in Slovenian)

The Ministry for Cohesion and Regional Development of the Republic of Slovenia has approved financial support for the Centre for Managing DeInstitutionalisation – CMDI (CUDI in Slovenian). The project is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus and the national contribution of the Republic of Slovenia.

The aim of the project is to support the transition from institutional care to community-based services, enabling individuals currently living in institutions to lead more independent lives within their communities. The Deinstitutionalization Guidance Centre (CUDI) will provide professional support and oversee the entire process. It will connect the efforts of various organizations, such as institutions, non-governmental organizations, social work centers, municipalities, and educational institutions.

At the national level, the center will assist the Ministry for a Solidary Future in coordinating work across different sectors. Locally, it will provide support and training for key stakeholders, including service users and their families, institutional staff, and community service providers.

The project also aims to develop new knowledge and raise public awareness about the importance of deinstitutionalization, facilitating the transition from institutional care to community-based support. Furthermore, the project will support the implementation of the Slovenian Strategy for Deinstitutionalization in Social Welfare 2024–2034.

With a total project value of €3,176,033.71, the European Social Fund Plus will contribute €2,438,763.27 in European funds. The contribution for the Western Slovenia Cohesion Region amounts to €579,700.85, while €2,596,332.86 is allocated for the Eastern Slovenia Cohesion Region. The project activities commenced on January 1, 2024, and will conclude on December 31, 2028.
