The conference “Deinstitutionalisation: The Right to Freedom” (24 September 2025) brings together people, ideas, and experiences that shape more inclusive communities. We are introducing speakers who are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Follow us and discover who is co-creating a future without walls.

Mrs Oana Mihaela Iusco has been a voice-hearer since early childhood and understands how it feels to live with voices at different stages of life – and how crucial it is to be heard. These personal experiences inspired her to support others facing similar challenges. Since 2014, she has worked in the field of mental health, peer support, and human rights. Through her organization Big Little Voice, she raises awareness via workshops and lectures, provides a platform for voice-hearers to share their stories, and promotes better understanding of mental diversity. Her mission is to transform the narrative around mental health, create spaces of understanding, and destigmatize the experience of hearing voices. She is a certified EFC trainer, Open Dialogue Practitioner and has completed training in peer and philosophical counselling. She has also attended multiple national and international advanced courses, including APS (New York/USA), Working to Recovery (Isle of Lewis/UK), and Windhorse (Vienna/AUT). Oana currently works as a peer counsellor at multiple locations of the Provincial Advisory Centre for Persons with Disabilities in Styria. She is a board member of the Styrian Monitoring Committee on Disability, as well as a board member, group facilitator, and peer counsellor with the association Achterbahn in Graz. She is also active as a writer and public speaker, both nationally and internationally.
